Social Worker/Psychotherapist

A variety of counselling modalities are used including CBT, DBT, IFS, Solution Focussed, narrative therapy and mindfulness/meditation practices. A strength based, action oriented approach helps clients reach goals and move past past experiences or current mindset blocks that are keeping them from living the life they desire.

Laura is a registered Social Worker, university educator and a certified Leadership Coach. She has over 25 years of mental health experience in a variety of settings. Laura currently teaches at Trent University in the Department of Social Work. Laura uses a variety of approaches in counselling including CBT, solution focused, IFS (Level 1), trauma informed and mindfulness/somatic approaches. She is trained in Gottman couples counselling approaches(Lev 3). She keeps current on new information and techniques by continually upgrading her skills.

Jocelyn offers a warm, empathetic, and clear communication style to help you feel supported and understood from the very first session. As your therapist, her role is to walk alongside you-whether you’re navigating depression, trauma, anxiety, or a significant life transition- and help you move toward meaningful healing and change.

She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling and brings over 10 years of therapeutic experience to her work. Jocelyn is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a Basic EMDR Trained Therapist.

Throughout her career, she has supported children, adolescents, women, and families through a wide range of challenges, including complex trauma (with particular focus on medical trauma), grief and loss (such as infant or parental loss), high-conflict divorce, school-related concerns, parent coaching, interpersonal challenges, sexual identity, anxiety, and depression. She also works with couples seeking to strengthen communication and connection, as well as individual adults looking for a safe, grounded space to explore their emotional well-being.

Her approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and deeply compassionate- rooted in the belief that healing happens when we feel seen, supported, and empowered.
